UPDATE:  Complete list can be found in post #92

After the conversation in the "Questions about the books" thread regarding recycling of names, I thought it would be interesting to find them.

I get the reusing of common names, but most of these are not common and I find it odd that she reuses unusual names.  But that's just me.

Anyone have any other similarities to add to the list?

DeWinter, Carmen – Creation In Death

DeWinter, Garnet – Concealed In Death

Teasdale (Roarke employee pg 127) – Immortal In Death

Teasdale, Miyu- Delusion In Death

Magda Lane – Betrayal In Death

Magdalena Percell – Innocent In Death

Renicki, Detective – Creation In Death

Reineke, Detective  – Kindred In Death

Darcia Angelo – Interlude In Death

Darcia Jordan – Taken In Death

Magda Lane and Magdalena are strikingly similar to Marlena.

Reineke and Renicki - can't help wondering if that's just a YANNI and she forgot how she spelled it.

We have also had Lobar used at least twice, once as a character in - I think it was Ceremony - Dallas interviewed, then later as the name of a CSU tech. Think that was from Witness.

He says he's clever, suave and devilishly handsome. 'Tis a shame he's also a liar....

I don't remember the CSU tech. I'll have to go look for that one.

I just listened to interlude... I think it was interlude... and there was a Yancy publishing or something. Way before there was the Artist Named Yancy. :)

I can't find a Yancy reference in Interlude, but I'll keep looking.

Using a same name is one thing, but another thing I've noticed is that Nora often uses similar names in the same book. The most recent instance is Wonderment in Death with Gia and Bria.

To be fair, names like Henry (given) and Mathias (surname) are quite common. I do think she has a hate on for some British guy named Niles, though, since it's come up as a bad brit name at least twice now (Imitation and as a pseudonym in Wonderment), some rich guy named Win (born and indulgence) and another dude named Sylvester (indulgence and betrayal). :)

Oh, and another question: in... Immortal the prostitute that was the floater? Hetta? she was left as a Jane Doe because Carmichael didn't do the job (pretty sure that was the name). Is it Eve's Carmichael? (detective not officer) or yet ANOTHER Carmichael?? :)

This is part of the name game. Initially, Eve had a Detective Cartwright in her squad and Carmichael was a lazy cop who didn't ID the vic. Then, Cartwright in the squad morphed into Carmichael. THEN another Carmichael was added, but an officer, not a detective. So... really, gotta go with the Detective Carmichael in the squad is NOT the cop that didn't ID the vic. After all, Eve would not put up with that level of sloppiness. Really, it's a YANNI, but when you have that many names, I think it can be forgiven. Nora has swapped names of other cops in Eve's squad since then.

I'll have to listen to Wonderment again.  I'll have to add Gia to the list.  There was Gia Rossi in Creation, if I'm not mistaken.

In addition to repeating names, we've got repetitive storylines, too.

I wonder if you meant Yost?  Maybe you thought it was Interlude because of Max Ricker?

Yost Colony (Max Ricker has a home there) - Judgment in Death

Yost, Sylvester - Betrayal in Death
