The first Nora Roberts book I ever read was Hidden Riches. I was travelling on business and browsing an airport book store. I bought it because it was set in Philadelphia, where I am from, and I've been hooked ever since.

I lent it to a friend and never got it back so when I saw a reissue in Walmart on Friday, I picked it up to read again. I always referred to it as my favorite Nora, but wanted to see.

Well, it's still my favorite! Just love Jed and all the Nancy Drew references! (Nancy Drew books were what started my love affair with reading I think.)

So, I was wondering...the first Nora you read, the one that had you searching up everything ever written by her, is it your favorite?

I bought my first Nora because I was stuck at the drug store waiting for a prescription. I had stayed away from her books, figuring anyone who wrote that much couldn't be any good. :woot:

But I saw Dance Upon the Air on the bookrack, and I liked the paranormal idea so I bought it. Before I was halfway through, I ordered the other two from Amazon, then I went on to the Dream trilogy and the Born In trilogy and then I found the JD Robbs, and that totally did me in. I'm hooked.

 I was 16 and visiting some relatives in Alabama when I got this terrible cold(go figure something about the change in climate). :reading: One of my cousins went and got me some books from the library and one of them was Carolina Moon.Once I had finished that one in one hour I thought okay who is this Nora Roberts and where has she been hiding all my life. I sent my cousin back to the library to check out all of her books which wasn't much.Childersburg Al. isn't the biggest town.So then I sent my poor cousin all the way to Birmingham which is a 1hr drive to the nearest Bookstore to purchase any or all of Nora Roberts books she could find.So began my love affair with Nora :notworthy:

The first Nora Roberts book I bought was Carolina Moon, but I never started it... always said I would never have. (Planning on it when I go away next week!) Then a few months ago a lady at work told me about the JD Robb books and I was looking for a new author so I decided to give it a try. I became hooked. I read most of them in a span of 4-6 weeks..... hardly got any sleep, but was hapy to finish one a day. Now I just have Remember When and Divided left.

Mine was "Tears of the Moon." I was at my mom's house and looking for some reading material. She had that one sitting on her shelf. (surprising since she's not really the "romance" kind) I fell in love with Shawn just like Brenna did, and have been a Nora fan ever since then. The J.D. Robb obsession happened by accident, too, mostly. I do remember that I did hear J.D. Robb was Nora, and since I liked other books of hers, I thought I'd give J.D. Robb a try. I bought "Witness" and actually didn't care for it all that much. Not sure what made me finally go out and start the rest of the series from the start, but I did, and by "Immortal," I was hooked.

Got hooked on Nora's stuff about 2 1/2 years ago. It was sort of an accident how I came about her books. I was at the library checking out some other stuff and there was Sacred Sins sitting on one of the library tables. The cover was eye catching so I picked it up, read the synopsis, found it interesting so I checked it out. Well, after reading that, I got soooooo hooked that I checked out every one of her books I could possibly find at the library. Although I got hooked with Nora's books from this one, it's not really one of my favorite. I love all the trilogies and let's not forget the InDeath ones too.

As far as JD Robb's, that was an accident too. I bought Purity in Death from this bookseller I go to. Anyway, read it, liked it but I was so confused with all the futuristic things that I had to check out the first book. Got really hooked when I read Naked in Death.

My first Nora Roberts was Genuine Lies. Though the Hollywood angle would be fun reading. Well, I can't say it's my favourite, but I can say that it has the strength of being the book that started me on Nora Roberts. Though I have to admit, I read J D Robb as a seperate author; my hook-ness on J D Robb has next to nothing to do with my interest in Nora Roberts, which pales anyway to the latter.

:cloud9:  I think my first Nora Book was Midnight Bayou but I have read so many of her books I truly can't remember where I started..... I can't get enough though and I am Practically obsessed with In Death.... The Naked in death copy I read was probably first edition and I probably should have taken better care of it but I read it about 2 1/2 yrs. ago and I have been obsessed ever since...

The first book I read from Nora Roberts was Hidden Riches; however, at the time I didn't pay attention to the author's name, and since it was a Reader's Digest Condensed book I didn't follow up with the author. I remember liking it, but it wasn't until I was in college when I saw a review in a magazine (either time or newsweek) that talked about her latest book which was Carolina Moon.

The article gave a brief synopsis of the book which caught my interest (paranormal, and mystery) and talked how a lot more women were reading romance novels and how they would get ideas on how to improve their sex life. Intrigued, I ordered the book from my book club and immediately fell in love with Nora's writing. From there, I started looking for her books in bookstores, through my book club, and in libraries. I liked her trilogies, and while I might not like all of her books, I was able to read them all. I picked up Hidden Riches again, and when I read the first line, I knew I had read it before and bought it.

I stumbled upon JD Robb when an excerpt of Conspiracy in Death was included in one of her regular books. When I saw that it was part of a series, I started looking for the books. Unfortunately, my library didn't have copies of any of them so I had to go to a Barnes and Noble to see if they had them. I finally found them in the mystery section and to my surprise they had them all starting with Naked in Death. I bought one or two per week until I had them all, and eagerly wait for her next installment.

The first book by Nora Roberts I read was when I was about 15. I was lazing around the pool after practise and waiting for my friends to get ready to leave. So I was in the office and I came accross Daring to Dream, someone had left it in the viewing area and hadn't come back to claim it. So being bored (as my friends take a month to get ready, even to leave the pool) I began reading and just ended up taking it home and I was hooked, so very very hooked, I actually spent the rest of that summer (well not ALL of it, but a lot) reading the rest of the Nora books I could get a hold of. It was 2 years after that that I discovered In Death. Now I am totally hooked.

My first NR book was "Daring to Dream" and the Dream trilogy is still my favorite.

I'd actually never read a "Romance" novel before. I heard about Nora Roberts when I was looking through Diana Gabaldon's "Outlandish Companion" for other authors I might like. Nora was recommended and so I thought I'd give her a try. I went to the library and found a beat-up paperback of "Daring to Dream." Well, needless to say, I loved it and scooped up every Nora book I could find after that. I put off reading the "In Death" books because I'm not a big murder mystery fan, but as soon as I read "Naked" I made a beeline to the bookstore and bought up every book from the series.

I've been hooked ever since, and my Nora addiction has proven quite helpful. Because she's so prolific, it helps me get through the wait for the next Gabaldon.

My first Nora Roberts' book was Sacred Sins. But what made me check it out from the library was after reading Naked in Death which I bought but had a LOT of doubts about whether I'd like it. (I usually read books by female authors except for Dan Brown and Phillip Margolin and J.D. Robb sounded like a male author). Now, I am hooked. :)

The first one I read, and actually took note that it was "Nora Roberts" (as opposed to just "whoever") was - and I don't remember the title - about the Arab princess who was raised by her nuerotic actress mother, and became a jewel thief.

Later, I realized I had actually picked up quite a few NR books, without making the connection.

That one is Sweet Revenge, and to this day, it's one of my very favorites.

My first Nora was either Genuine Lies or Private Scandals...I can't remember which. Neither is my favorite, but I did like both of them.

The first one I read was Sanctuary. That was about a year and a half ago. My friend gave me a box of books she didn't want anymore cause we are always trading and borrowin form each other. So I went through them and just picked one at random and it was Sanctuary. I would have been 16 and I had read all kinds of books. I've been reading forever, but that one really go my attention. So after i read that i went through and picked out a few more that Holly had gave me. And that started my Nora Roberts addiction. But my favorite to this day is Carolina Moon. I love that book.

The first Nora Roberts book that I read was Sweet Revenge as well. I simply loved that book. That book has put me on the quest to read all of Nora's books. Well, except the way earlier ones. Of course, I love the In Death books the absolute most.

I honestly don't remember the 1st Nora Roberts I read! :duck: I think I just sort of grew into reading her books. My all time favorite include the Quinn Series, The Villa, Birthright, Three Fates....actually pretty much everything that she wrote from the mid nineties till now :P

Believe it or not, I read the In Death books before I ever read any other NR books. I always thought I wasn't really into the romance stuff. Then after reading In Death, I was like....Hey! This is pretty good! So I picked up The Villa somewhere (don't remember where) and then I was hooked.

the first one i ever read was "Witness". I like mysteries and was looking for something frivolous to read. I read it and loved Roarke and all they're sexual innuendo. Now the In Death books are like my crack. If i don't read a funny or sexy passage a few times a week i start to get the shakes! LOL.

This is so going to date me :woot: . In the mid 1980s I borrowed a Silhouette Intimate Moments by NR entitled Once More With Feeling; I fell in love with the book and hunted for it in every used bookstore till I found it. And yes, it still is one of my favorites by NR (In Death series not with standing). :)
