"Until There Was You" is another good choice, so are "Night and Day" and "At Last".  "At Last" is a really old song and is presently being an ear-worm because I can't remember who wrote it.  Help!  Like "As Time Goes By," "Blue Moon" or "Stardust" they all belong to the classic period of Roarke's beloved black-and-white films.  I still think the 'our song' concept would just baffle Eve.

Con

I dont know if she actually wrote it but Etta James sings At Last, recently Celine Dion covered the song on her A New Day Has Come album

Have a couple more to add before I split for the weekend:

All Michael Bolton:

Safe Place From The Storm

In this crazy world
You can prove that you can make it
If you're strong enough to take it
Still there will be times
When you find this life you're livin'
Is just takin' all you're givin'

When you need someone to run to
The shelter of my love is always near
Let me be your cover, whenever darkness falls
I'll be there, I'll be there

Chorus:
Till the end of the line
You can count on me baby, call me anytime
When the night is fallen' hard
Come on out of the rain and into my arms
Run to me, to a love that's safe and warm
I'll be your baby, your safe place from the storm.

People in this world
Can be blind and so demanding
Show so little understanding
And in these desparate time
Seems like everything's deceivin'
There ain't much you can believe in

Let me be the one you come to
Show you one thing trust is always here
let me be your cover whenever darkness falls
I'll be there, I'll be there

Chorus

Run to me when those cold and troubled winds
Have found you
Come to me and I'll wrap my world of love around you
I'll be your flame burnin' bright
Be the sunlight in your day
That'll take you through the night baby

Till the end of the line
You can count on me anytime baby, call me anytime
When the night is fallin' hard
Come on out of the rain and into my arms
Run to me to a love thats safe and warm
I'll be yours baby, your safe place
U'll be your baby, your safe place
I'll be yours baby, your safe place from the storm

I'll be your safe place from the storm.

What's Afro Cuban swing music?

Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval, etc.

Music like the music in Rhythm Kings.

katie :woot:

BTW, Michael Bolton (imo :yuck: ) sings only from his own point of view. I think that a song for Eve and Roarke shouldn't be so obviously male.

How about "Is This Love" by Bob Marley?I'm a big BM fan...

Sorry but i'm still in the Jamaican zone...i just got back from a week's vacation there...here are the lyrics...

I wanna love you and treat you right
I wanna love you every day and every night
We'll be together with a roof right over our heads
We'll share the shelter of my single bed
We'll share the same room, Jah provide the bread

Is this love, is this love
Is this love, is this love that I'm feelin'?

I wanna know, wanna know, wanna know now
I got to know, got to know, got to know now

I, I'm willing and able
So I throw my cards on your table
I wanna love you
I wanna love and treat you right
I wanna love you every day and every night
We'll be together with a roof right over our heads
We'll share the shelter of my single bed
We'll share the same room, oh, Jah provide the bread

ok...This seems like one of the most perfect songs for Roarke and Eve... To me it is one of the Greatest Love songs.

Garth Brooks... To make you feel my love

The lyrics:

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you fell my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet
And I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
There's not doubt in my mind where you belong

I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on a rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothin' like me yet

There and nothin' that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love

well, i'd go for 'how do i live' by trisha yearwood... loved that movie so much...

it may sound abit odd, i but just think and i hope that their love for each other is so deep till the stage that they cant live without each other's love...

How do I
Get through one night without you
If I had to live without you
What kind of life would that be?
Oh I need you in my arms
Need you to hold
Your my world my heart my soul
If you ever leave
Baby you'd take away everything good in my Life.

And tell me now
How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you
If you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive?
How do I
How do I
O how do I live?.

Without you
There'd be no sun in my sky
There would be no love in my life
There would be no world left for me
And I
Baby I don't know what I would do
I would be lost if I lost you
If you ever leave
Baby you would take away everything real in My life

And tell me now
How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you
If you ever go
How do I ever ever survive?
How do I
How do I
O how do I live?...

Please tell me baby..

How do I go on?
If you ever leave
Well baby you would take away everything
Need you with me
Baby don't you know your everything good in My life

And tell me now
How do I live without you
I want to know
How do I breathe without you
If you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive?
How do I
How do I
O how do I live

How do I live without you
How do I live without you baby.......
How do I live....
the greatest distance on earth is not life and death, not the physical distance between us. it is when i am standing right in front of you and you do not know that i love you

I first discovered the In Death books abou the time the movie "DareDevil" came out and this song was all over the radio.  I think the lyrics epitomize Eve & Roarke's relationship and this song reminds me of them.

Bring Me to Life by Evanescence

But how could you dance close to that?

katie

By then, someone will have remixed it into a candlelight version. They always do.

I saw Natalie Cole singing today and I thought any of her torch songs would do. But, then she sang This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) and while its upbeat, you can still dance close to it. I think that could be a choice. By 2059 it will be a "classic" oldie and fit right in with Roarke's love of antiquities.

katie :)

Thought of Fever by Peggy Lee (or Elvis' version -take your pick). Picked up Peggy Lee specifically for that song. Haven't had a chance to get the words to it this week. Hopefully by the end of the week.

There are so many good songs that could be Eve and Roarke's song...but I'm sticking with Aerosmith's "I don't wanna miss a thing"....it's a simple song, not too cheesy... :)

I believe the song "Feels like home to me" by chantal kreviazuk is a beautiful one for eve and roarke.

"Feels Like Home"

Somethin' in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There's somethin' in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life

If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright, 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light

Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I'd love anyone so much

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way the back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

:band: Before Eve and Roarke got married ('Naked' and 'Glory') whenever I heard 'Escape' by Enrique Iglesias I always thought of our faveourite couple.

"If you feel like leavin'
I'm not gonna beg you to stay,
but soon you'll be findin'
you can run, you can hide
but you can't escape my love.
You can run, you can hide
but you can't escape my love."

Or 'Everlasting Love' by Gloria Estefan(?).

"When life's river flows
no one really knows,
'till someone's there to show
the way to lasting love.
Like the sun that shines,
you always will be mine.
It's eternal love.
When other loves are gone,
ours will be strong
we have our very own
everlasting love." :cry_1:

Those songs always make me think of Eve and Roarke.
What abou the song 'Evie?' I can't remember who it's by, but it was written in the 70's.
Oh well.
What do you guys think?

No, Etta James certainly didn't write "At Last" -- I think it's far older than she is!
As for Celine Dion covering it . . . Don't get me started! With apologies to her fans, maybe somebody could cover her?

Okay i'm really mad i discover this topic so late. The two I think would fit them most 1 for the young and 1 for the younger  are Shania Twain's From this Moment and Evanescence's Bring me to life. those songs basically cover the love and death part of them. I can't believe Evanescence was up there... that means there's still hope. That whole CD was really great and I was pround when they won Best New Artist Award... even though 50cent tried to mess it up.

Here is another really good song. this is the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding, so it has a lot of sentimental value, but all in all a good song.
oh its by Billy Joel in case anyone wanted to know

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years

I know this song is mushy but sometimes so are Eve and Roarke. Barbara Streidand's Evergreen from A Star is Born when she sang with Kris Kristoferson. It just does it for me
