BTW you're still at Vengeance? Not trying to pick a fight at you or nothing but it's almost September and you got 36 books left to read. Just saying.

I know! I still have a lot to do. I already read the Novellas "Midnight in Death" and "Interlude in Death" though, so it's only 34.

There are absolutes. Everything in between is still left to fight for."

On my fanfic I've had both Eve and Roarke listen to this song with Eve being the one to pick this song on suggestion by Charlotte Mira. Now obviously the dreams in the books are not as peaceful as the song likes to be, but Eve reminds Roarke that he's always there to comfort her from the opposite. So tonight I figure I'd kick it old school and put this song on here:

If Tomorrow Never Comes by Garth Brooks https://youtu.be/Rid5sE93axA

Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She's lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way
To show her every day
That she's my only one
If my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

'Cause I've lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there's no second chance
To tell her how I feel

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way
To show her every day
That she's my only one

If my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

So tell that someone that you love
Just what you're thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

Thought of this song this morning and after taking a few listens it furthered my belief that this song could click to Eve and Roarke because of how during the early stages in their life, it had been nothing but rain for them but over time if you find someone you love in that rain storm, it isn't always so bad:

Like the Rain by Clint Black

I never liked the rain until I walked through it with you
Every thunder cloud that came was one more I might not get through
On the darkest day there's always light and now I see it too
But I never liked the rain until I walked through it with you

I hear it falling in the night and filling up my mind
All the heaven's rivers come to light I see it all unwind
I hear it talking through the trees and on the window pane
When I hear it I just can't believe I never liked the rain

Like the rain I have fallen for you and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you I'm falling for you now
Just like the rain

When the cloud is rolling over thunder striking me
It's as bright as lightning and I wonder why I couldn't see
That it's always good and when the flood is gone we still remain
Guess I've known all along I just belong here with you falling

Like the rain I have fallen for you and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now

Just like the rain I have fallen for you
I'm falling for you now just like the rain

And when the night falls on our better days
And we're looking to the sky
For the winds to take us high above the plains

I know that we'll find better ways to look into the eye
Of the storms that will be calling
Forever we'll be falling

Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now just
Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now just
Like the rain I have fallen for you, and I know just why you
Like the rain always calling for you, I'm falling for you now just
Like the rain

Don't know if this would be a good love song for Eve and Roarke but since Feeney likes talking about Springsteen in the books and since this is actually one of my all-time favorite Boss songs (even though it wasn't done with the E-Street Band) I think it would be on their playlist because I think it's actually pretty dark:

Human Touch by Bruce Springsteen:

You and me we were the pretenders
We let it all slip away
In the end what you don't surrender
Well the world just strips away

Girl, ain't no kindness in the face of strangers
Ain't gonna find no miracles here
Well you can wait on your blesses my darlin'
But I got a deal for you right here

I ain't lookin' for praise or pity
I ain't comin' 'round searchin' for a crutch
I just want someone to talk to
And a little of that Human Touch
Just a little of that Human Touch

Ain't no mercy on the streets of this town
Ain't no bread from heavenly skies
Ain't nobody drawin' wine from this blood
It's just you and me tonight

Tell me, in a world without pity
Do you think what I'm askin's too much
I just want something to hold on to
And a little of that Human Touch
Just a little of that Human Touch

Oh girl that feeling of safety you prize
Well it comes at a hard hard price
You can't shut off the risk and the pain
Without losin' the love that remains

We're all riders on this train

So you've been broken and you've been hurt
Show me somebody who ain't
Yeah, I know I ain't nobody's bargain
But, hell, a little touch up
and a little paint

You might need somethin' to hold on to
When all the answers, they don't amount to much
Somebody that you could just to talk to
And a little of that Human Touch

Baby, in a world without pity
Do you think what I'm askin's too much
I just want to feel you in my arms
Share a little of that Human Touch
Feel a little of that Human Touch
Give me a little of that Human Touch

This would be perfect for Lonna Moon to sing to them when they went to see her at the Blue Moon.  They'd all have a perfect understanding.

Hi y'all. I'm a total newbie here which makes me pretty late to the party when it comes to this thread. However, one song I've always thought of in conjunction with Eve and Roarke is one by Howie Day called "Collide." (Hope I'm not repeating someone else's suggestion with this one)

Collide - Howie Day

The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you
Yeah

I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

I'm quiet you know
You make a first impression
I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Don't stop here
I've lost my place
I'm close behind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide

You finally find
You and I collide
You finally find
You and I collide

Been taking a listen to this one because of how it reminds me of Roarke sometimes talking about his Outlaw days to Eve and having his wild side. You guys might read the lyrics and have a different interpretation but it's the closest love song I know that's closely related to Roarke's past:

Man of Me by Gary Allan

Well high school got me educated
Still when I graduated
I didn't have a clue

Did a stand in the Navy
They did they're best to break me
Somehow I made it through

I've had some hard knocks
I've been around the block
But baby I believe
That Loving you made a man of me

Raising hell racing cars
Closing down the local bars
That what I used to do

Family told me settle down
Find yourself some solid ground
Where you can put down some roots

Back then I thought love
Was only sissy stuff
But now I see
That Loving you made a man of me

Loving you made a man of me

Don't know what it is you do
But every time I'm holding you
I know what my heart is for

I'm the one you lean on
Got to be strong
It's not just about me anymore

Well goodbye to my blind and immature days
Loving you made a man of me
Made a man of me, yeah
Made a man of me, wow

I'd still be only lost and lonely
As a boy could be can't ya see
That Loving you made a man of me
Loving you made a man of me

Ya made a man of me
Man of me, yeah

So Roarke always tells Eve to take care of his cop, well this song I think puts things in perspective on their relationship and how it can meet an untimely end, whether by death or dumping.
