Does anyone know why Summerset, who presumably is as Irish as Roarke, does not have an Irish accent? It's described in Naked as being part British and part Slovic, whatever that is.

Was he born in Ireland? It could be that He was from somewhere else or that his parents were from somewhere else.

The amount of information on Summerset's past is very little. I do not presume him to be Irish, only that he lived in Dublin when he found Roarke. We get little bits and pieces of his past, only that he had medical training (What kind? Was he a doctor, med tech, nurse, etc. ), he had a daughter, and Summerset is not his real name. I wonder about when Dr. Mira gave him a psych evaluation and said he was incapable of murder, but then again, he killed Patrick Roarke. I wonder, did he just fool Dr. Mira, because I find that hard to believe.

All we know basically is that he lived in Dublin but he isn't Irish and Summerset isn't his real name. Its actually something else but I don't have the book handy to look. Slovic I presume is the part of Europe now called, Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Serbia - that region.

I don't think Summerset's Irish. In Naked his accent is described as "Faintly Slavic"....Yes he lived in Ireland, but I live in the USA, and I'm not Native American. :P

Summerset lived in Ireland, but I think Ruth is right when she says he's Slavic. If you look in Vengeance, can't think where, but if you look it gives you a fair bit on him. Roarke had Summerset's name changed from Boris? I want to say Boris, might be wrong. Will have to check Vengeance.

As I remember, his name was Basil Kolcheck. This would explain his accent (faintly British with Slavic undertones) but I always wonder if he can do accents to suit the occassion. After all, he was the con man who taught Roarke how to be a better shyster! :P But as for where Summerset comes from, I don't think we've been told as such.

Maybe Summerset fled to Ireland intending to hide out for awhile and go home when things cooled off. But he meets a woman, falls in love and they had a daughter. After the wife dies (illness not murder, my own back story) he doesn't want to uproot the girl so he stays in Dublin. Then he picks up a battered child in the alley and has two .....

I hadn't made that connection. However, I think there is a difference between planned, calculated murder and the murder of Patrick Roarke, which would have been out of a need to protect Roarke....

I Think I am ready for Summerset to have a love interest, not one this time that is like a complete whack job who has a mentally F**ked kid trying to kill him and everyone he loves…….why not maybe hook him up with Caro, she is an older woman rite? Would that put a craw in Eve’s side?

Leah giving Summerset a woman has all kinds of possibilities!. And Caro is chucked full of exceptional qualities that Summerset admires, that would be very interesting indeed.

But instead of Caro how about Mavis's Mom? She comes to visit when the grandbaby arrives and stays with the Roarkes. She's as offbeat as Mavis, who we know Summerset finds charming. Maybe Mom is pleasantly shady (Mavis was). Eve would be whining all over the house if those two hooked up but would secretly be pleased, you know?

I don't want to ruin anything for those who haven't read the book, but in Origin you get another glimpse into Summerset's past. It elaborates a little more on what Summerset was doing before Roarke.

As for Summerset not being able to commit murder, I think that what Mira meant in Vengeance was that Summerset is not capable of commiting the type of planned murders in Vengeance. Killing Patrick Roarke was different. My guess is that Summerset went to confront him about his horrible tratment of Roarke and things got out of hand.

Leah - the baby isn't due until February. Origin takes place in November. The baby isn't due until Beginning which is 3 books away. Next book if memory serves is Memory , then the short story in the anthology and then Beginning. Can't give anything away because there's nothing to spoil - if that makes any sense.

I am going crazy over here!!!
One of my most very favorite scenes is when Eve is under investigation for the death of that horrible policewoman, and they take her badge, and everybody just goes into an uproar.

For the life of me, I CANNOT find this scene again!! Does anybody remember where it is?

THANK YOU!!!

Okay, yes, it's a mistake. I know it's a mistake. There's a certain thing in life where you know it's a mistake, but you dont really know it's a mistake, because the only way to really know it's a mistake is to make the mistake and look back, and say 'yep, that was a mistake.'
So, really, the bigger mistake would be not to make the mistake because then you go your whole life not really knowing if something is a mistake or not.

Yep, it Conspiracy, one of my favourites. The part when Roarke suggests Eve becoming a mother had me laughing my head off, the idea was just so ludicrous. Conspiracy is one of the better ones of the series, love it!

Can anyone please tell me in which book Roarke finds out about his Mom's death and his family in Ireland? For the life of me I can't remember which book it was in. I'd really appreciate the info.
