i had this weird thought.
i suddenly realise, after such a long time of reading the in death series, that i did not know what is Roarke's first name...
i mean, i know that his dad is Patrick, but what is Roarke's

I -may- be wrong (there's a very good chance) but they never say what Roarke's first name is. In fact, I do believe the only time his "name" is mentioned it's because he wanted to change his name and Summerset told him to "make Roarke his own". Roarke wanted to ditch it as it reminded him of his father. Summerset (at that point Basil i think) told him that it was just as much his name and that he could make it into something that he could be proud of. If I am not mistaken, this is the only time the past is mentioned in reference to his name.

I could be wrong. :duck:

In all in death books was Roarke never called by a first name. Nobody knows it, but Roarke. maybe Summerset too.
Eve never asks about it, and so no other person in the books.
My first thought was, maybe he has the same first name like his father Patrick and because auf that he wants that no one knows it.

I think Roarke, Eve, and Summerset all know Roarke's given name (remember he did unbury his birth certificate). However, I don't think Roarke wants to be associated with his first name so it has never been mentioned. Maybe in time but as much as I would like to know his first name I don't think it will ever be said. I have a feeling though that he is a "junior".

;) Roarke has no first name. He's like Madonna... it leaves an air of mystery cloaking him.

If he did have a first name, i think it would be something unique and masculine like...Torin (which is Irish for Chief) or Devlyn (but that's been used alot in other books). Or a word that's not really a name like, erm...
Sin Roarke, lol, or something like that.
You get the idea!

I agree. I think his father was arrogant enough to name Roarke after himself. Roarke didn't change his name but he dropped the name Patrick. His name would have been on his birth certificate when he was searching for his family. So Eve should know what it is too. ;)

I think he was a Jr. I think that is what Summerset meant about making the name his own.

I really like the just "Roarke" it fits so true. BUT, if I were to give him a name (though it has been suggested he was a Jr. and I concur) I'd have it Adian.

nah Sin Roarke would be to out there... no mystery just a statement. If anything he should have been named Angel... Ironically I find that kids named after things that are supposed to be good and innocent are bad and... just plain bad

I think Eve's been called Mrs. Roarke more than once. In Betrayal, she was called Mrs. Roarke by the shop owner who sold the silver wire to Sylvester Yost.

She was also called Mrs. Roarke and Lt. Roarke in Rapture on death by the doctor who looked at the "suicide" that occured at the Olympus resort.

I think this is what we are supposed to believe, especially given the extent to which Roarke's mother was in love with and wanted to please his father. It also explains why he would drop his first name. I have always just taken this for granted! :P

She has been called that, I think in "Midnight in Death."
