Hey guys, I'm a newbie to the forum but a longtime fan of the series. I searched and didn't see any mention of her, so has anyone considered Jennifer Carpenter for Eve? If anyone watches Dexter you'll be familiar with her, she actually plays a cop. She's the right age, has the perfect dark eyes and hair, she's very tall, rangy and slender. No chin dent though! In a giant coincidence, she actually plays a homocide officer on Dexter and she has the kick-ass, dirty-mouthed cop with a vulnerable heart thing down. Maybe it's because she currently plays a cop on TV, but whenever I read the books and picture Eve in my head, it's Jennifer.

I can certainly see why you would suggest her, but I will have to be picky here and say that not only does she not have a chin dent, but her nose is too large. It's not hideously grotesque or anything, but it just makes her look too hard. Eve is a 'bitch cop', but she's also vulnerable and I don't see the vulnerability in this face. I haven't seen her act though, so perhaps she can pull that off. From just the still pics though, I'd have to vote no.

Hmm, it must be the pics, I've never noticed her nose as too big. You definitely need to see her in action, when she's wearing a badge and a gun holster, looking so tall with long long legs!

It's her eyes that get me - she has very compelling, expressive eyes that can go "cop flat."

I dont see it at all, from those picture, she seem more like Officer Bowers actually. she look too mean or "bitchy" to be Eve. And She dont look anything like I picture Eve.

No.
Even though Eve isn't described as a beautiful woman, this actress isn't even as pretty or striking as I picture Eve to be.
And, no chin dent....

I have to admit that these pictures don't do her justice.
I've watched her on Dexter, and yes, she has an Eve-like attitude.
She could be a maybe.

this is one time when it would pay to have a premium channel. I'd be watching Dexter. Lelani is right or maybe its just the two of us but the first thing I see when I look at her is the nose. Strange.......

You know if you squint hard you may see Eve in there. But...

Since I'm not going to squint through the movie, I'm sorry it's gonna be a no. I haven't seen her act though, and I'm judging from these pics only so...

Hmmm... I do think that attitude is very important to me and she might be able to pull off "Eve" but I don't know about the looks. She just doesn't look like what I picture Eve as. I think its the nose - in one of the books Peabody is talking about nose jobs and comments that Eve's is thin and straight (like she's had a nose job) Jennifer's doesn't match this.
To be fair, I should see her act more but the looks get a no. She isn't pretty (like Eve) but she isn't striking either (unlike Eve). Something about the wide-set eyes and square chin... it's a no for me.

That's the two things that came to me--nose too big, and she looks more like a Peabody.

I'd have to say no for me, too, only based on looks, since I haven't seen her in action. When I judge a new Eve suggestion, I always look to see if she fits the description given in Naked in Death when, after first seeing Eve across the funeral service, Roarke is recalling how he had to do a double take and felt like he'd been double punched in the gut. No, Eve isn't supposed to be model-beautiful, but she's also got to have striking looks capable of causing feelings like that in a man like Roarke--and other men she encounters in the novels consistently find her sensual, too. Nothing about these pics above have that characteristic, imo.

I don't think we'll ever find (or agree on) an "ideal" Eve.

We all have too many opinions and priorities - a chin dent versus can she act, for example?

But to me, Jennifer Carpenter isn't a bad choice.

I didn't pick up on a big nose until several people mentioned it. She has a long narrow face and I think her nose matches it.

While I don't know that she'd be my first choice, she's better than several names that have been pitched.

I don't see her as Peabody though. I at least think she's more Eve-like than Delia.

Having just discovered Dexter, I haven't yet formed a strong opinion of her acting one way or the other. I will say that lookswise, I woudn't mind her as Eve. She isn't ideal ( wrong eye color, no chin dent), but I do think she's beautiful in a slightly more exotic/striking rather than classically pretty way. She also has the tall (imdb.com lists her height as 5' 8 1/2") thin body that Eve is described as having - so much so that I don't see how she could play Peabody as some have suggested. As for her nose being too large, I never noticed it in Dexter. Based on the photos on imdb.com, she seems to be one of those people who takes a lot of bad photographs and generally looks much better on film.

I love her as an actress but I would cast her in a different female role. I am not sure she screams Eve for me

No. Her eyes look too almond shaped to me. And yes, the nose is not the correct shape or size. She doesn't remind me at all of Eve. Maybe a daughter of Doctor Mira or Feeney?

When this was first posted my thought was "Not at all". But having just started watching Dexter I can now say that I could see it. She's not my first choice but I wouldn't throw a fit. I think she's pretty funny on Dexter.

Warning, bad language in that video, not safe for work.
