On page 127 of Visions in Death this conversation takes place:

 (Mavis) "Housewarming.  You know, where people move into a new place and you get them a gift."

(Eve) "Hold on, you have to get them a gift for moving?" 

... blah blah blah ...

"Why does there have to be a gift for every damn thing?" Eve complained.

"Retail conspiracy." Roarke patted her knee.

 The challange is...

Assume that Roarke wasn't joking.  Explain Roarke Industries role in this 'conspiracy.'
