Chapter 33: Epilogue
Once the ceremony had been the wedding party including Father Lopez moved to The Palace Hotels main ballroom for the reception. Everyone was eating and drinking to their content was the band leader announced time for the first dance of the bride and groom even though this was their second wedding. With this the dancing commenced and continued for over three hours until Roarke stepped onto the platform to say goodbye to the guests since he and his wife would be leaving shortly but before they would be leaving there were a couple of minor details to take care of first was the throwing of the bridal bouquet.
Once the single women had gathered around Eve turned her back and threw the bouquet of petunias as she turned to see the women diving and fighting and to her surprise and delight her partner pushed and shoved and came up with the prize.
Next up came the tossing of the garter and since Eve had no intention of letting Roarke lift the skirt of her dress she handed him the lacey blue and white garter which she had wrapped around the handle of her bouquet. After she handed him the garter the men gathered and rather then trying to catch all tried to avoid the garter until for some strange reason it landed in Baxter’s raised glass where he promptly took it and threw it right in Ian Mc Nabs face. He was laughing as Ian took the garter and very coolly placed it in the pocket of his neon blue tuxedo and the walked over to Peabody and gave her a long hot and steamy kiss.
As they continued the kissing everyone laughed and yelled at them since they were at a hotel to get a room.
At the end of the evening Eve and Roarke said goodbye to their friends and hugged Roarke’s family the promised to see them next week.
The next day still suffering from a minor hangover Detective Baxter and Officer Trueheart were given the task of interviewing Max Ricker and his flunky.
“Good morning Mr. Ricker. Detective Baxter and Officer Trueheart entering interview. So Mr Ricker do you understand your rights and obligations.”
“Well of course; I do my daughter is a police officer you know.”
“Really and who might that be??”
“Why Eve Dallas of course. She arrested me a while ago you see. She is so honest you see. She had to do what was right. And what I was doing well that was very wrong.”
“I see and what about the Richard and Stella Troy. Who were killed right here in central.”
“Oh them, well you see they were taking care of my precious Eve for eight years. And when I found out what they did to her well they had to pay and I couldn’t make my Eve go to court and bring all that was done to her in open court you see. All of that hurt that they caused her they had to pay. Now they have paid and no one can hurt my girl ever again.”
“So they hurt Eve and you made them pay. How did you make them pay?”
“Why I sent them a letter and fired them. The letter had a special poison on it you see. Once they touched the letters they died within seconds.”
“So Mr. Ricker is there anything else that you want to tell me?”
“No, I did everything that I came to do now need to go back to my home if would please see to that.”
“And where is your home Mr. Ricker?”

And George don’t send him to Cell Block D there is a very mean guard there can you send to B the guards there are nicer and George needs to be looked after.”
“We’ll see about that. We’ll take you back to your cell until the shuttle is ready to take you back home.”
“Thank you Detective Baxter, Officer Trueheart.”
“Goodbye Mr. Ricker.” They both told him together. “Interview over.”
“Well kid that guy is one crazy dude. He seriously thinks that Dallas is his daughter.”
“Yes, Sir. Sir why, didn’t you ask him about Dallas’s past. I think that he knew about her history?”
“You bet he did. But kid nothing about Dallas’s past is relevant to this so we are going to let it go. If it were relevant she would let us know.”
