Chapter 12Eve was making her to the crime scene she was thinking about how to proceed with in any evidence that comes from the scene. While considering the options she pulled up in front of the house next to the cruisers there already. As she left the DLE with the on duty light flashing she quickly made her way in carrying her field kit. At the doorway she removed the sealant and proceeded to coat her hands and boots before entering where death waited for her.
“Carmichael, report.”
“When we arrived at the scene he found Harold Ferrets in the living room laying on the floor.”
“When, did MR Ferrets die and how do we think that he died?”
“Um he died at roughly 10:00 PM and from the angle of the victims head more than likely he was killed from a broken neck. We had just began to go through the house when you arrived sir.”
“Did either of you have time to do a run on Harold Ferrets?”
“I did sir." Peabody replied. "Harold Ferrets born February 12, 2040. On September 28, 2056 he was responsible for the fire that killed his parents, Travis and Tammy, brother, sister Francis “Fanny“, and Grandmother Francis. At the time of the fire he was under the influence of both heroin and alcohol. His blood and alcohol levels were .087 just over the legal limit. It was determined that it was negligent homicide spent two years in juvie was released due to overcrowding just released from parole one month ago. Up until now all drug tests have been clean."
“Good, Peabody have the other officers begin the knock on doors. Then I want you and Carmichael to check outside. See if there are any disturbances out there. The victims were in apartments but this lovely house he had other places to hide before the kill.”
“Yes sir.” Once the others had left Dallas began to go through the house. Since she could see where the techs were working she went over to “Beaver” a tech that she had known for years and really since the man resembled a shrimp she went to ask him a favor. “Hey Beaver, what’s up?”
“Nothing much. How bout you.”
“Everything good on my end. Beaver I need a huge favor from you when you bring the samples from my scene they need to go directly to Dickey or Harvo until I change it. And I want you and only you to transfer it.”
“Sure, care to tell me why?”
“I can’t tell you yet. When I can I will let you know okay.”
“Okay.” With that Beaver went back to gathering the evidence or rather the lack of.
Once he had left Eve took out her link to contact Dick Berenski. With his nasal “Berenski here what you want Dallas.”
“Berenski, I need a favor from either you or Harvo. I want only you two to touch any thing coming from my current scenes.”
“Why, I have good people here Dallas they don’t make mistakes.”
“Dick, I will tell you what I am thinking but not over the links. I trust you and I trust Harvo. I have Beaver on scene I trust him but right now that’s it. And before you ask for anything I can get one set of tickets to the next Yankee’s Game and a two tickets to the world premier of the Icove Agenda. But that’s all I can do for now.”
“Okay, since I figure you wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important I’ll do it and have Harvo help out. See you when I see you. Later, deliver the tickets the way you normally do it.”
Once that was done she made her way Harold’s bedroom. Man was the kid a slob clothes were everywhere as she started to dig through the room was surprised to find what looked like a journal. The first entry was dated October 28, 2056. She had to look at her notes to see that it was exactly one month after the fire. Interesting I’ll go through this later she thought as she bagged the journal an exited Carmichael came in. “What do you have?”
“We have blood sir, we have blood. Its not a lot its on a rose bush thorn but its blood and is not very old blood sir.”
“Gotcha you son-of-a-bitch. Show me.” She said and followed him to the blood.
