Baxter pulled over as he saw the car parked on the side of the road. Jumping out, McNab and Morris followed him to the car. The front driver's window was broken and in the back were two women restrained by their seatbelts. Morris and McNab recognized them as nurses from the hospital.
"Where are they?" Baxter demanded of the women.
"Down by the water," Rita answered.
"Did you hurt them?"
"I make no promises about the girl, but that man is the one that did this. We were tricked by Detective Myers, please don't blame us."
"Right." Baxter snorted, "McNab, get Feeney and Dallas here."
"Just sent messages," McNab had started in the direction of the water with Morris right behind him. Baxter joined them, having no problem leaving the women back in the car with their lame excuses.
As they got closer to the ledge, they saw the figure moving toward them. When Baxter recognized Thueheart, they ran for him, starling him enough so that he managed to be carrying Peabody over his shoulder and pull his weapon.
"Woah, boy, it's just us," Baxter raised his hands while McNab and Morris ran to him.
"She's in and out," he told them as Morris took her from him, "But she climbed the cliff with me, I couldn't carry her. We both would have fallen."
"Take her back to the car," Baxter said and turned to Trueheart, "Great work, Trueheart! You tied those bitches in the backseat?"
"I hoped they would still be there, but I didn't take much time. I had to get to her."
"Good work. Let's get Dallas and finish this crap up."
When they got back to the vehicle, McNab sat on his knees in the driver seat, leaning over and watching Morris. When Eve and Roarke pulled up, Feeney was right behind them. Eve got out of the car just in time to see Baxter put his restraints on Rita and Briana.
"Captain!" Trueheart ran to him, "I got their plates. The two detectives. The blond and Detective Myers," he spouted them off while Eve climbed into the car with McNab, Morris and Peabody.
"It's a little unnerving to see a dead doctor leaning over my partner," Eve pointed out, trying not to let it show how much that bothered her.
"She'll be alright. Let's get her to the health center though, just in case."
Feeney came over to the car, "I've sent out an APB on those two vehicles. When they're found, who is with me to bring those bastards in?"
"I think we all are," Baxter told him with a grin, "But first, let's go dry off."
"I couldn't agree more," Eve told him.
